Worrying is about as effective as chewing gum to solve algebra

    12gb?!

    Jesus christ.

The rest of the list isn't so unexpected.

The 12 gig is not that surprising really. I've seen several games lately approaching 10 gig. I think anything which specializes in content (which ME appears to, I assume due to the RPG aspect) just eats through disk space with the HD art assets.

What gets me is the fact that the 360 version wasn't even close to 10, let alone 12. There's no way the new HUD and a few extra planets could be 3-4 gb.

Well remember that with the 360 version they know exactly what hardware they are getting. So for example, if they want to allow for different texture resolutions to support slower and faster machines they have to send completely separate packs. Same thing with audio and shit.

I still think that an extra 3-4gb of data is WAY over the top, considering that the visuals are not going to be much over the 360, so they're only going to be packing lower quality versions of textures and audio.

Considering The Witcher was only an 8gb install, and seemed to come with a never ending journal of crap you didn't need to know, much like Mass Effect, I think they're just using pisspoor compression. Akin to the MGS4 crap with "50gb is too small for MGS4", because of rubbish compression.

Yeah ok, I'll let you have this one. :)

But considering that they are going to be getting bigger and bigger. I'm not going to worry about it.

I just wish developers would stop worrying so much about graphics and start putting more time and focus into game play, and putting out something truly enjoyable, which can function independent of any flashy eye candy!

I'm in complete agreement with that sentiment.

I don't see it happening, though. Especially not with the massive developers.
