I went and ordered myself a new headset from Creative Labs, a Fatal1ty Gaming Headset. I've heard some good things about it and it's supposed to be high quality, also has a detachable microphone! :D As my of writing this it's in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I should get it by Tuesday at the latest.

I've had Onomnom.net running for a while now, just got around to posting it in here though. I'm mainly going to use it for my blog, and as a testing ground for my PHP, CSS and HTML.

GREG OUT!

Hopefully picking up BF:BC in about 8 hours, then I will drop off the face of the planet while I enjoy myself some blown up buildings.

Picked it up at 10:30 am, apparently they were shot of Gold Edition copies, so i was lucky enough to get there on time.

Finished Single Player at 5 pm. Felt rather short, but I did enjoy it.

Oh, and my dA userpage has finally been fixed, YAY. Here's the error screen shot for your viewing pleasure.

Oh and spot, I can submit journals with no title. Just FYI. :P

Decided to download Skype again. Forgot the password to my old account and didn't have an e-mail attached. So rather than going though the trouble to get support, I just made a new one: Onomnom.

Feel free to add me.

BF: Bad Company, First Impressions

Despite a laggy period after the demo was released to the public, I'd say so far I'm impressed.

The "tactical destruction" makes for some good game play. For example: If a sniper is hiding in a building, just blow the wall open with a grenade launcher and gun him down, or use it to make yourself a new entrance to a camped objective.

Support class has become a favorite of mine, Wields LMGs and has the ability to drop health packs for allies, repair vehicles, and call in artillery strikes (unlockable ability).

A quick strategy I worked out with a friend of mine is to have the support sit inside the tank on the machine gun, hop out when the tank needs repairs, then hop back in when he starts taking fire.

I'm really looking forward to this game in it's entirety in a few weeks.

Ouch.

Setting that terrible excuse for a title aside, I decided to pick WoW back up for a bit. My druid's been sitting and collecting dust for ~4 months now and I decided I'd try and get him back up too speed and such. Blizzard added a bunch of new daily's for me to replenish my gold supply with so I'm content with the easy grind for now.

In other news, Xbox Live still continues to amaze with that amount of plain old stupidity one can find in a single day. For example, 4 of my friends and I decided we'd hit up some ground war over the weekend, we happened to be paired up with another team of about the same size. Of course, you can guess what happened next:

"What, PWND CLAN? UR ABUT TO GIT PWNEDDDDD LOLOLOLOLOOL"

This went on for about 10 games, we went even against them, five wins five losses. The thing that really annoys me though, is the few times they won, they were still complaining about a level 10 on our team who happened to join about the 4th game, bitching at him about how much he sucked and how he should just stop playing.

I don't know how big one's ego needs to be to talk trash to newer players at any given opportunity, but I would assume somewhere between Saturn and Sirius.

Oh and Level 6 Prestige now :o

One thing I always find funny in "Microsoft vs. Whatever" discussions, is when someone is accused of being "an M$ fanboy." Yeah.

Oh, and Mass Effect PC got a shiny new HUD:

So, I've been using a free web host to host my blog called XMGFree for quite a while now, I was originally drawn there because they had excellent support, friendly staff, and great hosting.

Just recently, the support has gone to all crap, I found myself having to wait weeks just to get a reply, and even then it was "I don't have access to fix that." Even that paid hosting service was going to shit. There only seemed to be one active staff member, but he couldn't fix anything because he didn't have access.

So, the server hosting my site decided it would stop redirecting to my files about 2 months ago, and just start redirecting to the company's main site. I went to the overly backlogged support forums and found an already active topic on the issue.

The only one that ever seemed to be willing to give support said he'd look into it but, like I said, he didn't have any server access to fix the issue. To compound the problem, the only person with access to the server in question mysteriously went AWOL. So months went by, I was able to retrieve a very recent back-up of all my files through the still functioning cPanel, so nothing major was lost.

Just a few weeks ago, I logged on one morning to see if anything has been fixed yet, and I find that the management staff has deleted the entire support section of their site, started anew (most likely to cover their dirty laundry) and stated with no warning what-so-ever that they were canceling any and all support for the free hosting service 'until further notice.'

Of course, I was pissed. I've always recommended this host for their great up-time and friendly staff, I felt betrayed that they would make a business move like this with no forewarning to current customers, even some of the paid hosting customers canceled their accounts after receiving no support for weeks.

So, all-in-all I'm in the market for a new host. I'm probably going for a pay host this time around, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Mass Effect for PC? WUUUUUUUUT?

Blog Code

So, I'm browsing digg tonight before I hit the sack, and low and behold a very interesting news title catches my eye:

"Mass Effect Hitting PCs in May"

It can't be true, so I head over to Bioware's website, and there it is, "Mass Effect Announced for the PC"

So, spot, looking forward to this?

There are very few things that tend to influence me to throw my controller at my T.V. But there is one that I happen to run into at least once a day.

So imagine you're playing Halo 3, I don't care if you're a PC gamer 4lyfe (*cough*spot*cough*), just work with me here. You start a game, whats your first action? Clearly grab a weapon you're good with, be it a battle rifle, or sniper rifle.

That is generally how my games start off, I make a mad dash to control the maps one or two sniper rifles, to insure victory, but it can't be that easy can it?

We've all experienced it on a daily basis. Squeakers, children, noobs, they go by many titles, but they all infect that gaming market like a bad form of HIV. They tend to scream profanity after ever kill they get, which is generally by spraying their wepaon across the screen and getting a lucky headshot, sitting on the .50 cal, grabbing the rockets and having a heyday. They also are characterized by their tendency to call you a 'fucker' every time you kill them.

Back to my example: I grab my sniper rifle on Narrows and make a beeline for the other team's sniper all the while making sure I keep an eye out for anyone else trying to take it. I'm about half way across and My shield drop to 0, I look at my motion tracker, no one in range to drop my shields that fast, next thing I'm dead, I look around and see a team mate standing behind me, who then picks up my sniper, and proceeds to be pretty damned terrible with it.

I have the feeling I already know whats happened, so I check the saved film after the game, to have my theory confirmed: The player on my team followed me down and waited until he was in range to melee me and kill me, presumably to get my sniper rifle. The game ended with me on top, and our little kid on the bottom, who then started to scream and complain that I was stealing his kills, and that the Halo 3 sniper sucks.

This is what the gaming population has degraded into, children with parents who seemingly don't to give a rat's ass about what they're kids do, see, or say over the internet. I've had my share of hate directed towards me for my choice to play as an Elite in Halo 3, but there are always the 12 year old's the run around calling everyone in sight an 'n-word' or a noob because I can kill someone half way across Valhalla with a battle rifle in 4 shots.

So far the M16 + Red Dot sight prevails as my favorite weapon combo, you can pop someone's dome from quite a ways away that that puppy.

Mass Effect

I now know why the highest difficulty level in Mass Effect is called 'Insanity,' it will literally drive you insane from beginning to end. When you aren't trying to fend off 6 enemies at the same time, the one you have to kill uses his immunity ability every time it's up. On top of that he doesn't really die, it's like he gets knocked out and comes back to life with full health while still having immunity up.

To add to the chaos the friendly AI is, pardon my french, fucking retarded. If I order them to find cover, one will dive for a wall, while the other proceeds to shoot the same wall. Not to say it's a bad game or anything, if I didn't like it I wouldn't be on my 6th play though right now, but if you ever find the urge the play it on insanity difficulty, DON'T DO IT.
